Tips to enhancing the presentation of your home and limit distractions

Make your home shine and help Buyers see the value

  1. Turn on all lights

  2. Open all window shades and draperies

  3. Turn off televisions

  4. Remove all surface items including, small appliances, soap dishes, paper, etc. from kitchen counters

  5. Remove any items attached to the refrigerator, including children’s drawings and magnets. While precious, Buyers will be distracted by these items.

  6. Remove any surface items from bathroom counters, showers or tubs-including toys, toiletries, books or magazines.

  7. Go through every room, checking for surface items on furniture such as paperwork, clothing, art supplies, or anything that is personal to you or your family.

  8. Take down family photos and pack them away.

  9. Make beds, close closet doors and drawers.

  10. Declutter all rooms of excess furniture. Does the room feel spacious? Is there a clear walkway that leads you into the next room and/or to the purpose area of the room? (Is there an easy flow to the dining room table or TV sitting area?

  11. Remove all vehicles from the driveway for the photo shoot.

  12. Remove all garbage cans from the exterior.

  13. Put away all yard tools.

  14. Clean/power-wash all walkways, driveway, patios and decks and outdoor furniture.

  15. Remove exterior debris and clutter.

  16. Clean up any flower beds by removing weeds and consider mulching.

  17. Mow the lawn and trim any landscaping plants as needed.

  18. If you have a pool, be sure it is clean and clear.

  19. Remember to clean, clean, clean! Make sure to thoroughly clean your kitchen and bathrooms.
